Interactive Career Workshops

This year we have made a concerted effort to increase our engagement with Gen Y, this includes MBAs but also Masters Students and we have found that video clips, interactive exercises have been very well received. One particularly useful resource in this respect which our consultants have been reading over the summer has been ‘How to Run a Great Workshop; The Complete Guide to Designing and Running Brilliant Workshops and Meetings’ by Nikki Highmore Sims.

Often the sheer numbers of students in workshops, make the design of interactive exercises challenging! However we have seen through very positive feedback from students that this time is definitely well invested. One exciting trend we have noticed is that ‘skills development’ is increasingly becoming a credit bearing part of Masters courses. Many of us in the career development field will be raising a cheer, as we hear repeatedly that these skills are what employers want to see evidence of in their selection processes. This semester we are delivering ‘Self Awareness’ and ‘Selling Yourself’ workshops to Masters students for the first time and the response has been very encouraging.
